Here are my 3 tips for surviving social media. Tackling the fear of failure head on and cracking on with it!
How to stop procrastinating out of fear of failure.
Content creation for social media, analysing and reviewing your social strategy and managing your social channels can be exhausting. Feeling the pressure and looming dread of keeping up with all of your social platforms can weigh heavy on some businesses, especially solo entrepreneurs.
I can’t say this enough. What do you want to achieve this month, this week and today? Set yourself goals for the day, the hour, before lunch etc. Sometimes it can feel overwhelming. You know what you want to achieve, but the hours pass you by, you’ve been busy, and nothing much has progressed. Guilty!!!
It doesn’t need to be complicated and fancy, but plan your month, week and days. Set yourself deadlines, and block your day into mini tasks. By the end of the day, you’ll have a clear accountable picture of what you’ve achieved, and what’s left to work through the following day. This keeps me motivated and gives a great sense of accomplishment at the end of the day!
There are lots of apps available for planning your feeds and stories. Several are free for single accounts and users, but a monthly subscription is needed to manage and plan several or to post frequently. If you schedule your posts in advance, you’ll give yourself more time to engage and feel less anxious about not having a consistent or regular activity on your social platforms. (check out my blog on tools for planning and scheduling your posts)
Have a process or system. Whether you’re a small business, entrepreneur or freelancer, you need a system. Find the right space, limit distractions and prioritise what you’re trying to achieve. Know when you’re most creative or productive. For me that’s first thing in the morning, and late at night. Save jobs such as checking emails and admin for when you’re losing your sparkle.
You’re not supposed to be great at everything, and you don’t need to be! Focus your energy and times on the parts of your business you love. Remember why you started what you do and put your attention to what you’re great at! The other jobs can be outsourced to other talented people. Find people who share the same passion and enthusiasm for your business, who can support you and drive your business forward.
